Two teams from the College of Engineering and Computer Science at the American University of Science and Technology (AUST) achieved a remarkable accomplishment, winning two valuable awards from among fifty teams from Lebanese universities competing in the Create Start-up Competition 2025, hosted by AUT - Halat in cooperation with the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research, as part of the DAAD Ta'zi Partnership and Exchange program.
The projects were evaluated by an international jury comprising representatives from German academic institutions, ensuring a rigorous and high-level selection process.
The first team from AUST, comprising students Katia Hamdan and Hadi Abu Hamad, under the supervision of Dr. Michel Aweijan, won the Best Idea Award for their AR Sandbox project and will proudly represent Lebanon in Germany.
The second team from AUST, comprising students Raed Diab and Alain Nahra, under the supervision of Dr. Elie Nasr and Dr. Michel Oweijan, won the Business Innovation Award for their innovative cybersecurity solution, Cyber Phish. The two winning teams will have the opportunity to travel to Germany to present their projects and connect with potential investors.
Once again, these achievements confirm AUST's distinguished role in technology-based entrepreneurship, enabling innovative students to transform their ideas into globally valuable solutions.
