On behalf of the National Cybersecurity Committee, headed by the Higher Council of Defense, and in my capacity as National Cybersecurity Coordinator, I am proud to share that Lebanon was awarded second place at the ITU Global CyberDrill 2025, held in Dubai on 7–8 May 2025. This milestone is especially meaningful as Lebanon became a new member of OIC-CERT in 2024, making this recognition a strong testament to our growing expertise, resilience, and commitment to international cybersecurity collaboration.

We are particularly proud of our engineers, Ali Azwar and Jean Paul Chaiban, who represented Lebanon as champions from the National Cybersecurity Committee at the Presidency of the Council of Ministers. Their outstanding performance reflects the dedication and technical excellence of our national team.

On behalf of the Committee, I extend sincere appreciation to the ITU team, the ITU Telecommunication Development Bureau (ITU-D), and the UAE Cyber Security Council for organizing this exceptional global event. We are especially grateful to H.E. Dr. Mohamed Al Kuwaiti for his leadership, vision, and continuous encouragement of regional cooperation in cybersecurity.

The CyberDrill brought together more than 260 participants from over 130 countries, featuring high-level discussions, real-time cyber threat simulations, and valuable knowledge-sharing sessions that advanced both national and global cyber readiness.

The simulated exercises, co-organized with UNCCT, INTERPOL, and FIRST, significantly enhanced the operational readiness of participating countries and supported the development of national-level incident response procedures.

Lebanon remains firmly committed to strengthening its role in the global cybersecurity landscape, and we look forward to building on this success through continued collaboration and innovation.

As a personal note, and as a proud member of WICSME, I dedicate this success to my esteemed colleagues in the network—your support and inspiration are always part of every achievement.
